Chris Brown Designed The Blueprint For True Forgiveness With Rihanna:
They say that if you are truly in love, nothing will stop you from being together.
That seems to be the case for Chris Brown and Rihanna. The two pop stars are back together and back in love after a terrible night four years ago where Chris Brown physically assaulted his girlfriend.
Even in a tragedy like that, love prevailed. But it required hard work and forgiveness. In a recent interview, the F.A.M.E. singer revealed:
“That night was the deepest regret of my life, the biggest mistake. “But she loves me – what can I say? I’m forgiven… but, yes, I worked hard for it.”
It takes a lot for a person to earn forgiveness after doing something like that. Without a doubt this is the ultimate test of love. I believe that love is like a pair of chuck taylors, it’s better when they have a few battle scars.
You see, I have a theory that you must love someone enough to forgive them. I’m not talking about that bullshit forgiveness that most people abide by, but true forgiveness.
The type of forgiveness where you decide to fight through the pain in order to rebuild trust. In order to forgive you have to have the understanding that you are making a commitment to forgiving. A lot of time we falsely believe that forgiveness is a feeling but it is not. It’s a choice.
When a person confesses the things they’ve done wrong, the other person then has two options: justice or forgiveness.
When you choose justice, you get the person back, by sleeping with their friend or doing something else to hurt their feelings like they hurt yours, but only when true love is involved can you find forgiveness.
Punishing them for what they’ve done to you is not love. Love is taking the high road. I understand that it is hard, but with great love all things are possible.
So I am not surprised that Breezy had to work hard for it. It required a lot. It took a lot for Rihanna to forgive him.
When we forgive we are agreeing that we cannot erase the past, and that the only thing they can do is confess that what they did was wrong and try their best not to let it happen again.
A lot of times we try too hard to prove that our view was the only logical way to see the things that happened, but that is not the case.
How can we expect forgiveness if we can’t see why the person was hurt in the first place?
Where we go wrong is that we forgive but we still want revenge. Those two things don’t mix. We hurt one another, throw the wrong back in the person’s face. All that does is cause more drama in our life.
Those are the steps to true forgiveness. Those are the steps to understanding and if things work out between Chris & Rih then we all pray that our love is strong enough to overcome our own difficult times.
